How do parents feel about SuNica’s programming? Are they hesitant, or do they encourage their children to be involved?

The answer: It’s a mixed bag! We interact with a range of parents, from those who are eager to say yes, to those who decline, and some who aren’t very involved. But the vast majority of parents are supportive and simply appreciate the help.

We recently hosted a group of moms at the SuNica office for a Mother’s Day celebration. Sixteen mothers joined us for a day filled with heartfelt conversations, connection, and growth. It was truly inspiring to witness their enthusiasm and openness. One mother, Irsa Balladeres, was concerned about who SuNica was and wanted to know our intentions for her child. Her curiosity was met with an opportunity to connect and ask questions.

Near the end of the event, there was an emotional moment when Irsa bravely shared her initial doubts and reservations. She spoke about her hesitations during our first visit to her home, particularly when considering permission for her daughter to participate in the Sacred Forest retreat. Her sincere words, “Today, I can see and understand the purpose of the organization,” resonated with everyone present. Irsa expressed her profound gratitude and emotions, highlighting the positive transformations she has witnessed in her daughter—both spiritually, with her increased devotion to reading the Bible and praying, and personally, through improved relationships with her siblings and greater obedience. She also shared a touching letter written by her daughter, expressing gratitude to God for the impact of SuNica and its discipleship program in her life.

It’s a blessing to witness God’s transformative work in our community, as families experience positive change. Hearing Irsa, who was initially hesitant, now share stories of her child’s spiritual and personal growth reminds us of the powerful ways the Lord is moving and changing hearts
